Founding atelierfloema

In 2024, Marco founded atelierfloema, a design studio rooted in a bottom-up, human-centered philosophy, driven by the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to enhance their quality of life through thoughtful landscape architecture. The studio’s process begins with on-site visits and interviews, working directly with residents to identify pressing community needs. Sustainability and environmental considerations are woven into every project, ensuring solutions are both practical and forward-thinking.

Designing for Communities

Extensive travel in Sub-Saharan Africa and active community engagement in informal settlements inspired Marco to explore innovative strategies for upgrading open spaces in Nairobi, Maputo, and Pemba. In Umbria, Marco's homeland in Italy, his work focuses on street safety and accessibility, prioritizing children and the elderly in urban regeneration efforts. Driven by the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to enhance their quality of life, Marco’s work emphasizes thoughtful, sustainable design.
